Best Night Out – Best of Blog Challenge 2009

For today’s topic in Gwen Bell’s Best of Blog 2009 Challenge is your best night out.  Did it involve friends or family? What was the highlight of the night?

After giving this topic careful consideration I have to report that over the past year there haven’t been any nights that stand above the rest.  But, don’t misunderstand me.  I’ve had some stellar nights.  Among them: seeing Cowboy Mouth play live at the Exit/In in Nashville

where a friend and her husband happened to attend the concert coincidentally or the night I took my daughter to see the Nashville Predators play hockey in Nashville when Steph was visiting during her spring break.  There were also many nights spent with my kayaking/D&D playing friends eating dinner in various hole-in-the-wall places around east Nashville and most recently, meeting a new friend from Nashville and seeing a performance of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex inside the Parthenon in Centennial Park.

What was it about these nights that stand out for me?  Easy, spending time with people I love or admire.  Enjoying their company and conversation.  Laughing and making them laugh.  Knowing that we all simply enjoy being around each other.  For me, this is what a great night is all about.
