Do you ever wish you could change the world? Ever feel like you want to do something to change the lives of others without any reward or recognition? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to make a difference?
That is what Team Forty Five is all about. Making a difference. Changing the lives of people around the world. I recently became a member of a micro-lending organization known as Kiva.org. Kiva’s mission is to connect people with money to people that need money to continue or start a business. Kiva allows you to create a personal account and then review their lists of small business owners seeking loans to run their businesses. You then simply select how much money, in $25.00 increments, you wish to loan and Kiva does the rest. Your money is used to fund all or part of the recipient’s loan request. And, at the end of the loan terms, your money is available to you. You can either withdraw your money or re-loan it to another person or business.
At this time, Kiva has been around for more than 4 years and has a 98% loan repayment rate! Click here for more facts about Kiva.
But, what is a Kiva team you ask? Well, Kiva allows lenders to create “teams” to help focus and expand their lending efforts. If you join my team on Kiva, you will be able to fund any loan requests you wish. Your loans made under my team umbrella will then be tallied with any other loans made under my team umbrella. As I explained in a recent blog post, I am creating this team and working with Kiva because I want to give back. And, I’d love for you to join my team.
If you wish, you can donate right here. Please be aware that PayPal charges me 2.9% +$0.30 per donation. Thus, not exactly 100% of your donation will be given to Kiva. My goal is to cover the fees, up to a reasonable amount so that if you do donate $10.00, then $10.00 WILL go to Kiva on your behalf. Please feel free to use this method to help out if you choose to give an amount under $25.00 OR if you would simply prefer to let me decide how best to allocate your donation.
Please be aware that I TRULY appreciate your consideration whether you choose to support my cause or not. And, if you don’t wish to donate online, please feel free to email me at hstrykid(at)yahoo.com or send me a Tweet via Twitter or even message me on Facebook. I’ll be happy to consider alternate methods of donation.
Remember, this is my attempt to stand up and make a difference in the world. It may not be your ideal cause and that is OK. Know that I understand that not everyone can participate directly, but any support, even “kudos” or a pat on the back means a lot to me. Thank you for your time.
Take care and blessings to you,
Les
